Sony Bravia KDL40W5500
Denon AVR-1910
Sky+HD
Sony BDPS300 Blu Ray
Jamo A102HCS5 5.1 speakers

Set up my first 5.1 system a couple of months ago with no problems. Sounded fantastic from all sources. However recently, the sound seems to have changed dramatically. The bass just booms and drowns out most speech and music. I have recalibrated the speaker settings using Denon's Audyssey setup, and this hasn't made much difference. At present I keep manually changing settings depending on what I am putting through the Denon; often this means turning off the SW to make the audio audible. But this is not what I want - obviously. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, and, more importantly, what I should do to get things back to how they were!

Cheers.

I used to have the Jamo system that you have. Leave the sub on auto and keep it turned on. In your receiver's settings, set all speakers to small and have the crossover set to 140khz.

ok - the SW settings are as follows:

Auto

Level - max

Cut off - 150 Hz

Phase - 0

Don't recall ever chenging any of these when I set it up.

Get the level down to half or little more than half - you can always turn it up if you don't like the sound. The crossover frequency you have set is too high. Set it down to 80 Hz (or gradually bring it up to 100 or 120 Hz).

Thanks for all replies. That appears to have done the trick. Great stuff.
