Hi. I would like to know if there's any way I can transfer Dolby Atmos from the tv to the AV receiver. Tvs only have Toslink out and that doesn't work. Then the eARC out on the receiver doesn't work but that's another story...

What is the make and model of your TV and receiver?
Yes you can. In my case, I need to set the output format of the audio, from the TV..
PCM or surround etc
I'd check for those settings first

Samsung Q7 Series 65". Onkyo TX-NR686. Toslink isn't fast enough for Dolby Atmos, right?

I also have an Onkyo AV receiver and an LG TV.
My TV needs to have it's audio output set to HDMI ARC.
The receiver needs to be set to receive audio via the TV HDMI port.
I am guessing that yours is the same.
Go through all your settings.
They may not be called the same, but will,perform the same function.

Do you mean that if I connect the HDMI eARC out from the tv to the HDMI eARC out on the AV receiver the video and audio will go both ways. That sounds a little too good if you don't mind me saying...

I should have been clearer.
Connect your TV to the AV receiver via an HDMI cable and to your HDMI port on your TV which has the ARC connection.
The audio will be transmitted from the TV to the AV receiver via the HDMI cable.
The optical cable will be redundant.
