Are the discounted Roksan Caspian amps a good deal?

Well are they? I'm certainly enjoying the home demo, and more so now I've actually got them configured correctly. Thanks to Andrew! But what of the competition at this price point? I need to return them Tuesday morning if I'm not buying them. So does anyone have any pertinent advice? The details: All M-Series, 1 Caspian Pre, 2 Caspian Mono Power amps. Price = £2,200 They sound great and are a significant leap above and beyond my Arcams, but I'm not exactly making an exhaustive, informed, objective judgement. I'm just comparing one to the other, and obviously there are a few other amps out there. I haven't necessarily got the time or wherewithal to listen to lots of alternatives but is there anything that I should know about? And soon . . .

That is good value, but the Caspian integrated is also worthy of the reduced price.

What Arcams do you have?

Edit - sorry, just glimpsed your sig. In that case I would seriously look at this.

It's currently going for £1,400.

Thanks PP,

I can't seem to access your eBay link, but is it the Roksan combo? I'm currently watching a few items there.

If I do take the plunge with the Caspian kit I'll hopefully recoup some money when I sell my A85/P90 combo.

Sorry, I tried to copy and paste a picture but the forum site won't let me, likewise any ebay link.

It's a Leema Tucana 'Buy it Now' price of £1,400 or make an offer.

Cheers.

Thanks, PP.

Just had a look. Does seem a good price, but obviously no chance of demo-ing. Great reviews and forum plaudits indicate it's a winner though.

Tonight is my last chance to listen to the Roksans before decision time arrives, so we'll see what transpires.

If you like'em, keep e'm. What better reason do you need or what else do you expect?

You already have some roksan equipment and these I would imagine, complete a lovely system.

As always, my opinion only.

You're probably right. I do like the sound it produces. Both digital and vinyl sound fantastic. There! I've done it. Sold to the man in penury and plaid.

There is a reserve on the Leema, I had a bid automatically declined at £1,000.

Hi Joel,

I hope you don't mind me asking, but what kind of price did you raise for your Arcam amps when you upgraded or did you trade them in?

I've taken the plunge with the Roksan pre/mono power combo, although I was slightly chastened by a set going on eBay for half of what I paid for mine. (Mine are "new" or unused stock about to be replaced, the eBAy ones were a year old).

That said, I need to recoup some cash and noticed the eBay price for an A85 or P90 seems to be depreciating by the month.

Cheers.
