Are Alessandros really better than Grados?

Hi, I am looking for a nice new pair of headphones for my Hi-Fi, after looking on the forums I found one that said Alessandro take Grado headphones and 'tweak' them to make them even better. I was just wondering if anybody else could confirm this, maybe even a What Hifi? member themselves. the only reason I ask this is that i don't want to go and pay £100+ on them and then find out they aren't as good as a pair of Grados. Any help or guidance on this matter would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,I have just been reading about them. All of the customer reviews are very good, but is there any way that I could test a pair out before buying them?

I have the Alessandro MS1s and although I can't tell you what they are like to the coparable Grados, I can tell you that they are good. Helpful, aren't I...

In terms of auditioning, I wouldn't hold your breath. I bought mine from eBay from America; I don't think they retail in (m)any shops over here...

Hi. I think I am the person in one of my threads that said that Alessandro twick the Grados. I have a pair of Grado60's and a pair of Alessandro MS1s and yes the Alessandros are better, to my ears the sound is more open, can't explain why but just is. My advice and I have said this often in the forum, go on the Alessandro web site order the MS1s $99 including postage and cheaper than the Grado60s, wait between 7-10days, plug them in and you will be amazed at the sound of these headphones. next step up a small headphone amp. Hope this helps.
