Evening

In July I bought a pair of ATC SCM11s with and Arcam A19, an AudioLab Q-DAC played from Spotify.

Generally I listen between volume setting 20 to 40. Occasionaly, during social gatherings, I've come back to the amplifier jacked up to setting approx 60. Could have been running 50-60 for a few hours on a few occasions.

Now having done a bit of reading, I'm worried this carelessness may have done permanent damage to the loudspeaker. Although there's nothing audiable, sounds very subjective, and when you start worrying...

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can offer.

Providing you can hear what is going on, ie your get together is not so loud as to make your music hard to hear, then you will be fine.

Power levels are exponential though, some thought and care is required, but if you can hear what your system is doing and there is no obvious distortion, then you are unlikely to be doing any harm.

If you can hear both tweeters ok then it's usually fine. ATC recommend 75-300 watt amps for their range unless you have the earlier version which starts at 50w.

Yes, I think the speakers are scrap.

However, to safe you driving to your local dump to dispose of them I have them collected via courier for (very) local recycling ... .

Thats the kind of guy I am ;-)
