Seems that the Arcam A65 is being used as a yardstick :?

IMHO, the A38 has more overall detail and low-end punch compared to the A65 - try an A38 demo with Massive Attack's Angel...

Yet, acoustic/classical instruments still sound natural.

Cor! Sevenoaks has reduced the A38 to £1200

Makes a change: The A65 is normally used on this forum as a broomstick...

I have the A28 and auditioned the A38 twice now (with B&W CM and PM speakers). To my ears neither amp has that warmth being talked about. Just neutral and smooth which bodes very well for long-term listening. :)

The other Arcam amp I heard (yonks ago) was the A85 with Castle speakers. I didn't notice any injected warmth in that one either, athough I reckon compared with the FMJ amps today, it may have a dose of dullness. ;)
