What will happen with amps like the Arcam AVR-850 that need the Arcam website for calibration? I feared something like this may happen which is why I went off the Arcam amp in the first place.

Hi Bill, thanks for the input, on Dirac website it says it's only and the manufacturers have a licensed version, so if you have an Arcam amp you could be screwed! There's no way of getting it for the average Joe.abacus said:gel said:What will happen with amps like the Arcam AVR-850 that need the Arcam website for calibration? Dirac is not owned or designed by Arcam, they just use a licenced version of it, with all calculations done externally, and then when the calculation is completed it is downloaded to the Arcam Receiver.

Hope this puts your mind at rest.

When you purchase a Dirac product you just download the Dirac software for that particular model, its then yours for life, and can be used as many times as you want with that product. (The software also remains available even if the product manufacture goes under) The only time you might have problems is if Dirac itself goes under, which is unlikely as there would be a queue to buy it up.
The Dirac program is no different to any other computer program, plus dealers who sell Dirac products will also have a copy which they use for all the Dirac products they sell.
Hope this helps

Or dumbed down products, remember it's Samsung who owns the whole gig now.
