Hi, just looking for some advice. Running an Exposure 2010s2d with an Arcam irdac and kef q500.
Looking to upgrade something for no particular reason as we do, how much better is the Chord 2qute to the irdac? Anyone had the luxury of using both? And would there be any significant difference?
Thanks

From a technical point of view, chord are probably in a league of their own, almost.

The companies use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays as opposed to the typical off the shelf DAC's others allows them to uniquely code their devices. This even extends to its entry level portable DAC the Mojo. (I am not sure how they can do that at the price).

Result, their DAC's are probably the best measuring products available, even compared with 'pro' equipment such as Antelope with their 'atomic clocking'.

To get an idea see the HifiNews Review of Chords DAVE DAC (April 16).

They (Chord dacs) are just superlative engineering, in every sense of the word imho.

There are very good alternative products of more conventional topologies available and ESS make great DAC'S too, now widely used.

Whether you can hear these differences or indeed prefer them is an altogether different question 🙂.

I agree to the above. Cause I have tried some many Dacs in my time. I went to audition am amp, and the shop happened to have the 2qute in the demo room. I decided to have a listen, and I thought that cannot be the effect of a dac alone, but it was. It was real pleasure to listen to.

So I took the demo one for home trial for a week. It's still in my system. Got £100 off for the demo sample. It makes my Oppo player sound mediocre
