arcam dv 135 - lack of picture via amp

I have just connected my dv135 to my onkyo 875 via hdmi-I get sound but only either a solid pink, blue or yellowish screen. My toshiba xe1 hddvd is connected the same way but works fine. The arcam displays a picture via hdmi when connected directly to the tv via hdmi. I have rechecked every connection but still no joy. Any suggestions? Is there a handshake issue between arcam and onkyo?
