Thanks for your reply scene. I just got a reply back from Arcam and it will cost £208 +VAT. This will include a service, parts and labour and return carriage which doesn't seem bad considering i didn't actually pay for the Arcam.

That sounds okay, although I not sure of the original price for the receiver.

I think the price was originally £1000. If you like the Arcam sound, the new alternatives are either the AVR400 at £1700 or the AVR 500 for £1299 (P. Tyson), which makes it good value, especially if you get a Bluray with multichannel outs.

The performance was only slightly behind the AVR 350 which was very good, especially for 2 channel.

Thanks the replys guys. Yes i'm sure the original RRP was £1000 and although i have to pay for a repair i do like the Arcam sound and to buy a working second hand one would cost about the same as repairing mine, although atleast i know that by having mine repaired i should have a few more years out of it without it breaking down.

On the Blu Ray player note, does anyone know of a good one with multi channel out that i could use with the Arcam?

It depends on what you want to spend and if you want if you want 3D.

Have a look in the back of the current WHF and it gives you the specs. Makes such as Oppo, Cambridge Audio and Marantz have analogue outs.

I think the great deals on the Sony BDP S5000ES (£599), now seem to be over...unless others know different.

Really depends on budget, I'd go for Marantz. I know from personal experience Arcam and Marantz are a very good match. Perhaps something like this may appeal: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MARANTZ-BD5004-DVD-BLU-RAY-DISK-PLAYER-NEW-/260833032228?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_DVDPlayers_Recorders&hash=item3cbadc3824

Edit - If you don't go for this one, I maybe tempted to part with £300... ;)

Thanks for the replys again guys. I was thinking of maybe going for something like a cambridge audio, panasonic or marantz blu ray. I know Sony do make some good players as well but fancey tryingc i something different. And yes that is a really good deal on the Marantz plastic penguin. If i can't persued the wife to go for it now, i may well get one of them in the future. I like the style of the marantz, just hope you can get it in silver.

One more thing for plastic penguin. I have just noticed that if you go to www.hyperfi.co.uk you can get the Marantz Blu Ray Player you posted the link of for £299.99 plus delivery and they have got them in stock so if you miss out on the ebay one then try there. They also do price match as well

Cheers for that.

Sevenoaks are doing deals on the well slated Arcam BD...

I know it still has "issues", according to the sales assistant, many of the problems are ironed out. It's probably just a load of old sales 'spew', but certainly worth considering.

I live in Gravesend, Kent so guess i will have to wait for Arcams quote and then try a few of the dealers where i live.

I live in Istead Rise and work in Gravesend. There's that place by the roundabout at Pelham Rd/ Old Rd West which according to the sign outside deals with Arcam. I don't remember the name, it's iHome or something similar.
