Just got one, connected by HDMI through my Yamaha, and connected to my wireless router, and all working fine. Initial sync of photos (6000+) took a while, but I don't have much video or TV content yet.

Any general tips or advice on getting some good HD content?

I'm not sure where you'd get HD video, but you can rip your SD DVDs, and make sure to rip your music CDs at Apple Lossless.

Itunes UK store is getting better for HD content. I downloaded planet earth in HD and looked really good.

ÿOr if you make trips or know people who make trips state side you could pick up a USA gift card and then use the USA store which has loads more content than the UK oneÿ
