Apple Tv - how do I connect to Beresford DAC and then to AV amp?

Hi,

I'd like to connect my apple tv to my av amp via my beresford dac.

I have done this already but when it comes to watching movies etc on the apple tv there is a nasty stuttering sound which doesn't happen when I'm just listening to music. I'd already taken the atv back to the apple store and replaced it thinking it was faulty, however the problem persists. I now realise that using the beresford inbetween the atv and the av amp could well be the problem...

The current set up is apple tv connected to tv via hdmi, and also apple tv to beresford dac via optical cable and from the beresford dac into the av amp via standard audio outs.

Any ideas?

never tried Multi channel sound into my Dac magic as it says it cant handle it.

Yep, I think this is the problem.

I'm wondering if there is a way I can use the beresford with the atv for music only.
I've just set it up with both the optical to beresford for music and also the atv to the av amp via hdmi for movies. i think this might work...

Another question, am I really going to see the benefits of the beresford/apple tv combination when its connected to an av amp? It is the highly rated (although budget) yamaha ax763 and I'm using it with monitor audio bronze and radius speakers.

I would suggest just plugging the ATV into the Yam - I don't think you'll get that much lessening in sound quality...
