Main problem with all the current Rega CD players is that they are top loaders which I cannot accomodate, do you think the new CD player will be a front loader.

Hi Lo Fi

Rega's new Apollo cd player will be a top loading design.

All the best

Hi chebby

Fwiw, Rega informed me that their new Apollo cd player will be a top loading design 🙂

All the best

I thought it would be (as I speculated earlier in the thread). Rega make very 'conservative' engineering choices* and have traditionally opted for evolution rather than revolution.

(Except for 1983 when they detonated a bomb in the world of tonearm design with their RB300.)

However, I still maintain that Rega should scrap stand-alone players and just make a transport to go with their DAC. (Or a DAC of the user's choice). They could offer a package deal on transport + DAC that would be price competitive in it's market sector.

Yes, just bought one for my study to go with a Rega Dac, and Usher S-320's. Sounds is amazing for the money; typical Rega mix of rythymn, timing etc, with good detail. And a great phono stage for the money, which goes well with a Goldring G1042.

I have owned lots of expensive hifi over the years, but this little amp (and DAC) really are a bargain. I listened to quite a few things, including some pretty expensive Cyrus gear, and think this is a great buy.

wasn't the Brio3 around £300? looks like this one's jumped up to almost £500-does this mean Rega are leaving the "budget" range of products in favour of concentrating on mid/high-end?!
