I bought one 2 weeks ago, would like someone to cofirm what i'm getting in the amp display regarding HD sound.

I have a Panasonic BD35 blu ray player which is connected to the amp by HDMI cable. If i play a blu ray disc & press the audio button on the players remote the player has chosen the DTS hd master audio over the Dolby Digital.

Digital audio output in the player are all set to bitstream & secondary audio is off.The amp is showing DTS sound not DTS HD master audio, should the hd master audio bit be in the amps display, reason for asking is that if DTS only is correct i don't really notice much if any difference to normal dvd sound.

I've played around a bit with the amps settings so wondering if i could have cocked something up.The other thing i've noticed is that for normal tv viewing pcm is showing, read the manual a couple of times and can't find anything related to this.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the yamaha AX763 which i think has the same screen. Firstly when watching normal tv the sound will show as pcm, if you have sky hd or sky movies these should show as dolby digital.

As far as blu-ray is concerned the amp should show DTS hd mater audio on the left hand side. I suggest resetting the amp, running the auto setup with the mic and hopefully that will do the trick. Which movie are you watching?

The disc is called Sunshine made in 2007,science fiction.Only have 2,bought to check out the HD sound. Both disc cases list DTS hd master audio & Dolby Digital.

J.C.

Yamaha were not very helpful so i had done as you suggested before coming back here & reset to the factory settings & ran setup again.Still only getting DTS in the amps display & i haven't altered any settings.

Andy.

The player is selecting the Dts hd soundtrack automatically, this function works because on a normal dvd it selects DD.

Be back later today.

Thanks for responding

Still trying to sort this out,not heard from Yamaha yet.Been on another forum, others having the same problem with the BD35,one solved it by changing the player another apparently thought it was connected to his resolution settings.

I hope it isn't connected to the resolution because i still have a 36" Pana crt 100hz with a brilliant picture. My understanding is that if i have a blu ray player & my amp connected by HDMI cable i would get hd sound,my tv shouldn't be an issue.

Anyone know if this is a fact & the resolution is involved in the sound output.Could prove to be an expensive problem if true.
