Hello all, hopefully this is the right place to post this.
I came across a listing for these german-made speakers - WHD BR 140-1/8 - for 200 euro.
They seem to be in really good condition and the seller is reputable.
Info online for them is very sparse, but they do have a hifi wiki listing, and some additional specs from the seller, roughly translated:

System Configuration
  • 3-way bass reflex system with front-firing port
  • Reference WHD chassis components
  • 25mm silk dome high-frequency tweeter
  • 43mm silk dome mid-frequency tweeter
  • 175mm grooved special paper woofer cone
  • Removable metal protection grilles

Technical Specifications
  • Nominal Power: 70W
  • Musical Power: 140W
  • Impedance: 8Ω
  • Frequency Range: 35Hz - 25,000Hz
  • Crossover Frequencies: 900Hz / 3,500Hz
  • Color: Black
  • Dimensions (H × W × D): 520 × 300 × 240 mm
  • Weight: 9kg per speaker (18kg pair)

Has anyone came across the brand and/or model?
Assuming I'm able to test them out, would this be a good deal?

Well this is a second hand private person type deal, so I'm not expecting any sort of warranty at all.
Just interested in the possibility of getting decent quality sound with an interesting character by buying cheaper vintage stuff. Maybe this is too expensive an investment for what it is?
I'll definitely take recommendations for better known and durable options.

Hi, for me this brand is a new discovery. They look interesting, the brand WHD still exist! You may look on https://whd.de/
It is possible to switch web to the english. I think these speakers could have decent sound, pair them with some nice old receiver. Just wondering if the weight 9kg per speaker is correct. 9kg for such huge speaker will indicate thin walls, little damping, small magnet structure etc. But they are worth of investigation. BR.

Thanks for the feedback guys, elucidating. I'm starting to consider they might be overpriced... same seller also selling a pair of MB QUART 290 at about 200€, I'm also curious about them, but some ebay sellers are listing those at way cheaper prices, even accounting for international shipping.

If anyone has feedback on those I'd love to hear it!

The price at the time was 298 DMark. Which is 152 Euro.

Version 1 had ferrite coils in the filter, but version 2 air coils, which wasnt' used that often in those days.
