Another niche of a niche technology?

So now we have aptX HD Bluetooth, which for cellphones is currently only supported by LG. Meanwhile aptX itself is hardly prolific, neither supported by Apple, and Google's own Pixel phones never did.

I think it's telling Cambridge Audio's Yoyo speakers are plain vanilla Bluetooth.

It's possible that this will remain niche, but a couple of companies are supporting it. Naim's Uniti Star and Uniti 2 do, and some Audio Technica headphones.

But also, while Apple want a cordless future, it hasn't gone the whole hog yet (what with lightning headphones and all), so it could still come. I wouldn't rule it out yet.

As for the Pixel, you're probably right there. My bet is we're more likely to see it from Apple than Google. Fingers crossed though - I quite like Bluetooth headphones so I'm all for better audio quality.
