Sad as I am, I like the look of the smart cover. Cleans the screen as you move, mmm

(Probably not the main feature really...)

I dunno, they dedicated a video to it!

Looks fantastic and all, nothing in there to make me want to sell my first gen iPad. Looking forward to having video sorted out in airplay though. Ill keep saving for a new MacbookPro I think

Agree with Paul - not wetting my appetite enough to want to change from my iPad. The HDMI might be handy every now and again, but really not interested in the camera. I actually like the profile of the current one - with the newer one being thinner, I'd be worried about damaging it. At least the current one feels robust. And if the new one has a shiny back, forget it!!

6th.replicant:Splendid!

But still no SD or USB slots! ****!

Wasn't it meant to get 'Thunderbolt'? Though admittedly without other Thunderbolt enabled devices it's not much use...

Yeah, I thought so too. But then again except for the first sync when new, data transfers very rarely take over a few minutes on to my iPad.

Take a few seconds using a MacBook and a USB...

But I do like the iPad's 'yoga mat'

But I bet it won't output full 1080p that Apple promises with the iPad 2. The original is great but there's no doubt this is a another leap forward.

I still don't get it.

iPhone for maximum portability and Macbook for everything else.

Yes, the iPad is a compromise that bridges between the two but it doesn't even come close on functionality, Try phoning on an iPad, or keeping a full music library of Apple lossless music = FAIL.

A compromise that fails on both levels. Please explain?

Sit down on the sofa and browse the internet for 5 minutes, you will realise the iPad is so much better than a laptop (other than for typing obviously) , especially for sharing videos and photos etc. It sounds cliche but it really is about the experience.

I actually bought my iPad for work, its fantastic for me. I am a photographer, and I get most of my business through networking. It has paid itself off already just in print costs alone. I can give a short keynote presentation on a one on one basis (try woking a room holding a laptop, macbook air even, not going to happen). I can tether my slr to the iPad through a wifi network, getting full resolution previews of my work as I go on the iPads screen. Now thanks to the HDMI dongle I can do full presentations on the thing, one more reason not to carry a laptop! And when you regularly carry around 5-10kg of photography equipment, carrying an iPad around instead of a MacbookPro is a god send.

I actually think laptops are the compromise, my aim eventually is to go iPad for portability, MacPro or high end iMac for everything else.

Just use the thing for a while, its amazing. Alot of this stuff is going to be in Lion anyway, so you better get used to it!

Nope. Still not convinced. I would rather have 250+ Gb hard drive than a wee bit more portability. Maybe if they up the drive size. Each to their own

Having been lucky enough to have an (all-too-brief) play with the iPad2 last night - and comparing it directly with the original iPad - I can confirm that the new model really benefits from being lighter/slimmer/faster. Web browsing seemed blisteringly fast - can't wait to try out movies and games to see how they benefit from the boosted graphics processing.

The HDMI dongle is interesting, too (if - surprise, surprise - pricey) - am wondering as Apple made such a fuss about it being able to output at 1080p that we can expect higher-quality movie downloads on the Apple iTunes Store in the near future.

iOS 4.3's enhanced AirPlay support - including video sharing - sounds intriguing, too. Lots to test out when we get our hands on one proper (which will probably mean - as usual with Apple - waiting to buy one on March 25th with everyone else!)

All rather underwhelming I'm afraid, compared to the upcoming Droid based tablets like the Motorola Zoom.

- No increase in screen resolution,

- No tab support in browser, no syncing of bookmarks with mac, still no flash support,

- app switching and mulitasking still not as good as honeycomb

- memory undisclosed (512MB suspected as opposed to Ipad's 256MB), Zoom has 1GB

- no expandable storage (SD slot)

- additional $40 for hdmi - talk about greed!

- the usual poor video/audio format support.

- Ipad2 Movie output is capped at 720p

- Ipad2 graphics - is 9 nines faster than original Ipad, but still lagging behind the new droids.

No hi-res screen I feel is a little strange. Why have a high-res screen on the small iphone screen where at 3.5inch its not really of any benefit, and yet not have it on the 9.7'' Ipad, where the extra resolution would make a difference? Even with this update IOS is starting to look dated, especially with regards to how multitasking is handled.

No flash support in a device designed to consume media is mind boggling.

Both in hardware and the OS, Apple is struggling to remain competetive with the best.

I'm still not a tablet fan - I dont see why u wouldnt just use a laptop at home, and I'd stick with a phone for use if I'm out and about,
