Amplifier Short Circuit

Something really stupid happend to me. I'm a complete HiFi newbie and I bought myself a new system.

The + and - wire which connects the right speaker to the amplifier touched each other. (I might have stripped the cable too much *dash1*...) There was a bit of smoke... And the amplifier smelt burnt.

I think the amplifier is dead. But what about the right speaker? I have no way to test it. Will it be okay?

Thanks for any help. I'm desesperated. *help*

Probably. Sounds like you've burnt out the amp. You're not supposed to have anything switched on when you wire up speakers.
