Amplifier connections

I have just bought the Marantz PM7001KI Signature 2 channel amp as I am going back into two channel music as well as sticking with all the home cinema kit. I have connected the two channel amp to the receiver via the preouts on the back of the receiver (Marantz SR7500) and into the amps main in connections using a good quality set of leads. However when I listen to music I have to set the small switch on the back of the amp to off, the switch sets the amp so that it can be used as normal or used as a power amp which is obviously what I do to watch a film. Does any one know if both amps can be connected together so that I don't have to keep setting the switch on the back to either on or off? A dealer has told me that I can connect the Receiver to the 2 channel amp via the aux connection, is this true?? Any help would be really appreciated!

Can't you just leave the switch to stereo amp and adjust the volume up on the stereo amp to balance, thats what I used to do on my Musical Fidelity's. but i believe the dealer is also right as it's just a sound input after all, just watch the volumes
