Thanks to my Dali Ikon 6 5.1 speaker upgrade, arriving this weekend, I have a set of Kef 2005.1 eggs and sub to re-home. I'm thinking about putting them in the bedroom and mounting them just below ceiling level, pointing down in a 5.1 channel set up for use in primarily a matrix 5 channel stereo mode.

My old Pioneer DV565D will feed into a receiver and I don't really want to spend too much money. For £180 I can buy a Denon AVR-1507. Is this the best value for a multichannel amp to power these speakers. It'll be mostly playing my iPod, connected in a rather basic fashion and occasionally a DVD or CD and perhaps a bit of good old fashjoned radio in the morning.

My QED Silver Anniversary cable is going to be feeding the new Dali's so what should I buy for the KEFs at minimum expense in keeping with the whole budget nature of the kit. Looking at about a 30m total length of cable. Room is only 7x13ft.

Cheers!

Yes the Denon will be fine, or something like the old Yamaha RX-V361 or Sony STR-DE400, which you can find for even less, if you don't mind a spot of springclippery on the speaker terminal front (and why should you, at this level).

And speaker cable? While you're at Richer Sounds looking at the Sony or Yamaha (oops, bit of giveaway!) you could do worse than the in-house Gale Symphony 200, at 99p per metre.

You know, you should charge for this advice! Oops, don't worry I'll be buying the September edition! Mate, you're a legend. Thanks.
