got a really good deal on a pana bd35 bd player from rs.now this will decode all hd sound formats internally, but as my old trusty yamaha amp has no hdmi and the bd35 has no analogue outs im a bit stuck.will be going for a sparkly new hi end amp nearer xmas but need a stop gap in the mean time. cant find a sony 820 anywhere so thought about an older generation amp with hdmi because the bd 35 will do all the work, any and all suggestions please!!

I would personally stick with your trusty Yamaha and put up with DTS/DD until such times as you can afford to upgrade to a decent one at Xmas. I don't see the point in changing amps twice in 6 months plus you will lose money on the stop gap amp too.

If you do go for a cheap(ish) stop gap the following are all LPCM capable utilsing the decoder within your player. Obviously all bitstream capable amps with HD audio decoding will do the job:

Onkyo 576 upwards, Onkyo 605 upwards

Yamaha 761SE/861SE upwards inc. 1700/1800/2700/3800 etc.

Sony 910

Denon 1908 upwards, Denon 2307 upwards, Denon 3806 upwards

Pioneer VSX918/VSX 1018 (plus the LX51 onwards)

Marantz SR4002 upwards
