Hi,

I have been looking into getting the sony br and amp duo, s5000es/5400es as this seems to be a very good match and they tick all boxes, But i have been told if something goes wrong then sony customer care is poor

1 is this true?

2 Do they tend to go wrong?

3 What alternative should i look at?

4 I have looked at pioneer but unless i pay 2k it not profile 2.0 I think

5 What speaker package would be best suited?

I have just purchased Kuro 600A :)) so want now to watch/listen too good movies

Look forward to hearing your views

You're not looking hard enough then, Pioneer are launching their updated range right now, all of which are profile 2.0, and they're starting at the bottom end, so the cheaper ones are available first, namely the BDP-120 and 320 but also the BDP-LX52 which I'd suggest should be the minimum you should get for that screen. Using a Pioneer player will also give you the advantage of Kuro Link as well, which might be useful.

If you're prepared to wait the rest of the range should become available as the year progresses, I expect the 72 model to be next.

The Sony's are a great choice, as for amp this may depend on what speakers you are going to partner them with. Other alternatives are the Pioneer Lx81 or the Rotel and some of the Yamaha's, for blu-ray player then the much talked about Oppo, and the Denon 3800bd, and this is down to £899.Can't comment on customer service but an audition is a must and try to audition amp and speakers together.

Ok i have decided on keeping to the pioneer set up, Been on line all morning looking at different ways to try and have great set up within a budget of 7k(tv included)

So here goes.

Kuro 600a

Sc LX81 amp

BDP LX52 over LX 91

Speakers TBC on demo probably looking at B&W theater or tannoys

By having the LX52 over LX91 i save alot, it seems there is not much difference between spec , am i wrong in trying to save here?

Please help as i would like to nail this on head sort speakers and start to enjoy, have been deliberating now since december

Look forward too any help
