Is it best to match your amp and cd player??

I cant decide which ones to choice if this is the case.

My budget is around £600

The thoughts i have had so far are....

Audiolab 8000 - amp can be got for £300 but cd player is expensive

Cambridge audio azur 540

Marantez 6002

Harman Kardon HK980 - only based on looks and name have no information about them.

They will be paired with B&W 685's and idially should look good but sound is obviously the most important thing.

All opinions would be massivly appreciated, should i match the amp and cd player or will seperate work just as well,

If so which sould i look at and listen to

Thanks

can't give you any suggestions on the players/amps mentioned as i've not heard them but i think matching them is purely down to preference. i prefer my kit to look the same, but i think it can apparently also help take the hassle out of system matching.

the mag did a round up of one make systems a couple of months ago. you may be able to find the reviews on the site. Other wise i can happily dig the issue out and give you the round up.

i have nad c542 and c320bee with some b&w 601's and loved the sound. so maybe you should stick the current nad offerings into the mix too.

The Marantz combo of the PM6002 & CD6002. They are great with the B&W 685's are are very smooth sounding.
