jaxwired:A plinius dealer has offered me a mint demo 9100 for 33% off retail. Wifey said "get it". Yet still, I'm going to stick with my NAD 355bee.

Everybody's very quick condemning your decision but a plinius 9100, even with a third off, is still a lot of money, especially if you happen to end up not liking it. You should listen to it first and compare with some other options at what is still a not insubstantial amount of money in my humble opinion.

...of course, the wife saying get it about a hifi product and you don't is probably madness. Hell will freeze over before my gf says anything positive about my hobby.

Seriously though, there's always an offer around the next corner. Don't rush into anything.

I've bought a plinius 9200 for about £1800 on e-bay a few days ago and I've not heard it with cyrus and spendor before. I'm hoping to get the amp and speakers in the next 10 days. I've still kept my cyrus 8vs2 in case things don't work out with the plinius. The plinius is less than 6 months old and in immaculate condition so I think I can get my money back if i don't like it and sell it on. I think the spendor's having low sensitivity would benefit from more power than the 8vs2 can provide. Your spendors are more sensitive and amp more powerful so you might be ok.

Sometimes spending money upgrading can make the sound worse as system synergy is very elusive and difficult to achieve with so many factors involved. Also when you upgrade one component it usually leads to upgrades on more components as in my case. Theres always good bargains to be had in hifi if you look hard enough so I wouldn't be worried about passing up on a good deal.

Funny. My wife doesn't mind the Hi Fi hobby as it is one a few activities that allows me to have my eyes and hands free for toddler duty.

I feel like I should be saying that having kids would therefore resolve her dislike for my hifi but I can't...I won't even mutter it in fact...

Very wise comments. I agree. My system sounds fantastic already.

I did wonder about the power since my spendors are relatively low sensitivity also. Woudn't mind seeing what more power would sound like. Although, most people don't realize that decibels increase on a logrithmic scale which means that to double volume you need 10 times a power increase in watts. So moving from say 80 w/c to 120 w/c is relatively insignificant.

And like you say, I can always find something else to buy.
