alternative to ps3 as media centre?

hi folks,

currently use our ps3 for mp3 playback, photo viewing and video playback (mpeg from camcorder etc)

We dont use the ps3 for gaming at all, so wondering if there's an alternative out there that would be just as convienient? Looking at something like the Western Digital TV hub.. i'd like something i could connect up an external hard disk to..formatted as ntfs that would playback mp3/mkv files over 4gb etc..

Any advice appreciated
