All-in-One Systems equal now to cheaper Hi Fi sets

This is what I have too noticed. They sound so equally good now. I wonder whether there is a point really to buy separates in the same price range. Denon , Sony or Panasonic all-in-one sound really good. Unless one wants huge floorstanders...but even those can be easily connected to all-in-ones.

Not really listened to either but 'connected to' doesn't necessarily equate to 'properly driven by'.

The issue with all in ones is just that. If something goes wrong you lose your whole set-up if sent away for repairs. Upgrading is also pretty non existent.

There are certainly great systems out there like the NAD Masters series or the Naim Uniti series. To me it‘s kinda similar to buying an iMac though – once the computer (i.e. Streamer in the amp) is outdated, you basically have to throw the whole thing away. With amps that should at least take a lot longer than with computers, which is why I‘m okay with those systems.
