AKG Headphones - question for owners & What Hifi

1st off. does anyone own any AKG Headphones. i am currently looking at buying a pair of either AKG K 271 MKii or AKG K 272 HD. i like the look of and apparently AKG are an outstanding make. just wnated to see what people think of them because i am unable to audition them unfotunately.

secondly, how come WhatHiFi do not have any reviews for AKG at all? Sennheiser and Bayerdynamic are coververed but no AKG.

Help would be appreciated.

Both of those cans are on my shopping list for leakless listening. They are a similar build to the K702s, which I find very comfortable over extended periods. The headband adjusts itself which helps.

Sadly, What Hifi drop reviews after a while to make space for new brands, even if the old one is still for sale. I asked the same question recently about the Goldring NS1000s.

thanks, funnily enough i have a pair of the Goldrings and really like them. great for commuting and that but they do leak sound at high volumes so people at work are getting a bit annoyed, hence the purchase of the AKGs. will still use the goldrings for travelling and stuff tho.

i've never seen any AKGs reviewed by What Hifi tho and have been an avid reader of the website and mag for quite some time. thought they might have something against them or not given any demo models etc 🙂

I dont think that the AKG reviews on the web disappeared that long ago. To be honest I dont remember any of the reviews apart from the K702s andI think that they were the only 5 star headphones in the AKG range. Like you I dont have anywhere to audition AKG, which obviously poses problems.

I have just switched from K702 to Goldring NS1000 as the family are home and they leak less noise and isolate me very well. Their sound is similar, neutral, detailed, do bass only when the original recording did bass.

Please just buy either and tell me what you think!
