Airfoil - i-phone

Can you use the i-phone to control non i-tunes content with the addition of airfoil or Simplify Media software?

Rowmote can do a certain amount of remote control outside iTunes e.g. you can play, pause and skip tracks with Spotify with it, use FrontRow, DVD Player, iPhoto. I'm using a Mac, not sure if it works with a PC.
