Hi I have an aging but working Kenwood KA 3020 SE Amp listed at 30w per channel. Due to a change in house, and the room where the hifi will be, I am looking to probably upgrade my speakers to smaller, neater ones (likely Q Acoustics 3020 or similar).

I want to gradually update my system, starting with speakers. Will my existing amp be suitable to run these speakers, which are listed at ''recommended power 25-75watts" ... I know you are meant to 'match' a hi-fi but i have no idea how this is calculated (even after much online study!).

The best way i could word this question is - "what figures should i be looking out for when looking at the power output of ANY bookshelf speakers, in order to 'match' this Amp.? ".

Your amp will drive these speakers no problem. I'd imagine they will sound well together. As a side I have both the 3020 and the 2020i. The 2020i are cheaper and imo just as good

Cheers for the advice, i had seen the 2020i 's also, but it's interesting to read you find the 2020i's nearly indistinguishable from the 3020 .For my purposes the 2020 will surely suffice.. ... i have B+W DM601 but i feel they are a now a little too physically big for the room setting...

It might be worth your time to ask here if others think the 2020i are as good as the 3020 on a new thread. Others may think differently, and even though it comes down just to what you think, it's good to get more than one opinion
