HI,

I plan to buy a dedicated CD player.

Currently I am using my Pioneer BDP LX52 blu-ray player to play my CDs. I concider budget players: Cambridge Audio Azur 340C or Denon DCD-510AE.

Do U think I will get greater performance on CD playback with budget CD player or to stick to my LX52 to play CDs.

10x.

M.

Denon has warmer and smoother sound, the Cambridge is more in your face, on the bright side a little, orÿ you canÿ buy ÿMusical Fidelity V dac(second hand) or another budget DAC for blue ray player

Harman-Kardon HD990 CDP, TSP supposedly £500, but can be had for less than £300. Am assuming your budget is around that mark given the other kit you mentioned. The 990 has a fine spec, including balanced XLR outputs not found on much kit this side of £1k. It shares a similar spec to the CA840C which picked up rave reviews a year or two back. Different build entirely, but don't be put off shortlisting this one because it's knocked down in price.

HK don't get too big a fanfare in the UK, but their hi-fi pedigree is sound and some of their most recent equipment is worthy of more than a passing glance IMO.
