Hi,

I have lipsync issues with my ps3 / sony str-db790 and samsung tv. with the video over HDMI connected directly to the samsung, and audo over the opical cable to the sony str-db790 receiver. after looking at various posts and sites, the issue is likely to be due to the processing of the video on the tv, and sound on the amp. I've been trying to discover if I can set a delay on the sony receiver but cannot see anything for this model, any one got information how to perform this if it is possible? is replacing the receiver the only option?

If I upgrade the receiver to a model that will allow me to set a delay, and use the hdmi cable from the ps3, will i still be able to route the 5.1 sound to the receiver? would i connect the ps3 to the new receiver and then out from the reciever to the tv? as the tv only forwards 2.0 sound.

No, no lip-synch adjustment on that receiver.

And yes, you will be able to run sound direct from the PS3 to any receiver with HDMI audio capablity, using an HDMI from PS3 to receiver, and another from receiver to TV.

Or you could run it as you have now, with an optical cable, but you won't get the HD Audio formats available on Blu-ray Disc, if that's important to you...
