For some time i was considering purchasing the Phillips 32pfl9603d TV, which was given spectacular reviews and most of all what drew me to it was the fact that at 32inches this TV really did prove that at that screen size there was a difference between 720p and 1080p. Sadly the TV has now been discontinued, though I've seen the later model 9613D. But not sure whether to buy it as it has not been reviewed yet. It also has a hefty price of £849.00. I will most likely buy the 9613D If what hifi gives it a stellar review and confirm that at 32inches the set does offer true full hd that is noticeable. If however it doens't get a good review, what HD TV would you recomend.

My viewing distance is approx 2.20 metres and the room is 16sqm

Any advice would be really appreciated :)

I'm on budget so the maximum im looking to spend on a TV is around £800-£900

from that distance I recon u could fit a cheeky 37 ...maybe your not so convinced, but iv got a 40in from a 2.5meter distance (not so clever i know, but im a gamer...this helps!!) Ur buget of 800-900 is high for a 32in screen, so rele you shouldnt be looking for anything less than 1080p, 24fps and the like. If your looking for the quality reviews, check this site out:

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/reviews.php

If not, google the model number and then write 'review' after it and im sure youl find loads. cNet also do GREAT reviews and line ups with thie search engine, so check them out also.

if you want to save a buck, and still have something quite special I would recommend the samsung LE32A656, it looks rele nice, and is a very high end set.

If you can view these tvs first hand it always helps, but ask for a demo so u can play with different formats and check those cheeky shop managers havent just turned the brightness up rele high to impress you. When you find what your looking for, be sure to look up professional calibration settings to make the most of your picture.

so at my distance would i benefit from a 37 inch or a 42inch? According to this website http://myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.html given my distance in feet, I would need a 50inch screen to benefit from full HD but I cant afford 50inch right now. So guess a 42 will do?

now 40in is where i specialise a tad more (not much mind, but i was searching for a couple of months for around the 40in mark television). The first thing to note is which do you want? LCD or Plasma? For your budget, and given the time of year, there are bound to be LOADS of bargine to be had in the 40in range. If your a fan of ebay, your in luck, if not, ul probably still find something. Personally, i prefer LCD, cos they dont burn out pixles and leave scars, and it gives me the option of using my laptop with it.

If you want my specific advice, take this. The sony 40w4000, bloody good set, what hifi cant get enough of it, and neither can most reviewers. Follow this link, and u can get this 40in set for £720 with a 5 year waranty. If i were you, id do that.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-BRAVIA-KDL-40W4000-40-LCD-TV-HD-FREEVIEW-HDMI-24p_W0QQitemZ380088912126QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Televisions?hash=item380088912126&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1300%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Sony are to my understanding, currently leading the TV market generally, so I dont think you could go wrong with this set. If ur not a fan of 40in, then check out this site again for some 37/40/42in sets.

Just had a look at the Sony KLD-40W4500 and I think I'm going to go with this. The best deal I've found so far is £848.00. However, this is likely to go down in price in the new year. What Hi-Fi have awarded it product of the year.
