Hello all,

Well after much deliberation i've decided on purchaseing a pair of Grado RS2i.

I've read the forum sticky about fakes so an authorised dealer is the way to go, but I was thinking of perhaps ordering from the USA, even with the import duty etc it may still work out cheaper?

Does anyone have any experience on purchasing them and any recommended sites?

Your help and newbie tolerance would be most appreciated...

Cheers

Good choice. I have to say I prefer those over the equivalent Sennheisers. Once above the Sennheiser 600/650, I've never really found them worth their asking price.

Have you actually listened to them yet ?

I purchased a pair blind from the US a few years back and was distinctly underwhelmed with the performance, even at the reduced price. They have to be one of the most grating, shrill sounding headphones I have ever had the misfortune of torturing my ears with. Needless to say they are history, you can certainly do a lot better for the price of these headphones and would recommend you give them a thorough listening to before spendig all that money.

Thanks for the heads-up. In keeping my post short I over simplified my position. With a LOT of reading and comparing reviews against the type of music I listen to, I had basically narrowed my choice down to the RS2i or Shure SRH1840.

Obviously reading and listening are a world apart so I'm off to listen to them both at the weekend. I've found somewhere that sells the Shure at a very competative price, but was looking for anyone who had bought the Grado's and could recommend a US dealer. I am stretching my budget to the max, which is why I was looking to get the best price I could find...

It was actually one of your posts in an old thread that prompted me to ask here :)

Thanks again

You should research Alessandro who sell modified Grados at far better value-for-money prices and have official blessing from the Grado factory to export to the U.K.
