Hello all, newbie here, asking for a bit of advice please.

We have some of my late father in laws Hi Fi to sell and would appreciate your knowledgeable help.

The equipment is in mint condition

We have a Garrard 401transcription turntable with an SME arm 3009 series 11 and Shure S2 shell and Shure VN35HE stylus.

The turntable is mounted in a hardwood base with clear hinged lid.

The amplifiers are Quad 303 and 33 units, complete with all conecting cables.

I hope that this question is in the correct section , if not I'm happy happy for the mods to move it

Thankyou in anticipation

Quads are worth a few hundred, but not a fortune. Turntable could well be a different matter, as 401s are pretty sought-after - suggest you contact a Garrard specialist such as Loricraft for a better idea of the value of the combination you have.

Hi JHeap, and welcome!

I would say the Garrard could fetch anything up to £750 depending on condition, with the arm/shell going for at least £200 (possibly more). Together you should be nudging £900 or so.

I'm not an expert, but the Quads should fetch somewhere between £150 and £300.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks for the swift replies, it gives me a better insight as to what to ask for them.

I did miss an item from my list a Decca stereophonic FFSS pickup with a 78 rpm head plus two further heads of unknown speed.

There is also a pamphlet to accompany these items.

Thanks again for your help

The pamphlet is indeed the 'Installation instructions and general notes'

The garrard will be quite sought after, i have recently sold one on e-bay to someone in Japan, if your lucky you will get a few people outbidding each other, especially if its clean..The quads will need to be in good condition , still quite a few on the market.
