I was wondering if anyone knew of any rugged and hard wearing in ear headphones that sound good?

I seem to go through my headphones too quickly as I don't treat them too well and the spend all day, every day in my pocket being used on and off all day (commuting, at my desk at work, out shopping etc). My last pair were a set of Goldring GX200s and I loved them until my left earpiece started going on and off intermittently (wire has broken in the plastic sleeve where the two earpieces split). I especially loved them as they cost me about £15!

Is there anything out there that will dissapear in my pocket and last longer than about 5/6 months of carelessness and abuse? At £15 I don't mind buying a pair every 6 months, its more the inconvenience of them breaking and getting new ones.

Cheers!

Have you thought about "customising" a pair with some re-inforcement around the week areas? Some heat-shrink, or basic electrical tape or the like? Maybe that suggestion is just my kiwi "No.8 fencing wire" attitude coming through.

Thats not a bad idea, the headphone adapter for my mobile phone is 'customised' with some electrical tape after that turned out to be quite flimsy, although I ususally only ever think of things like that as damage limitation when it's too late.

Using electrical tape on my headphones isn't the ideal solution, I don't want to look like a 21st century Jack Duckworth, although the heat-shrink is worth looking into.

I can recommend Shure's earphones, it sounds like we give our earphones the same amount of daily hammer and they've lasted ages.

They don't cost £15 (the basic SE102 seems to be about £50) but they do come with a 2 year guarantee, and sound great.
