Morning, wondering if anyone could assist me. Recently purchased a Hisense M3000 43" 4k TV and an HDMI audio extractor (the unit takes an HDMI feed splitting video and outputting analogue audio). Now the extractor seems to be working fine when used after my Chromecast, passing audio to my Yamaha AS-500 and digital video to the TV.

However I just can't get it to work via HDMI ARC output to extractor and then passing the audio to the amp. Hopefully I'm doing something wrong.

Is this an issue that anyone has experience with or suggestions to resolve? Here's a link to the extractor gizmo http://www.ebay.com/itm/172107266710

Thanks for reading, and a big HIYA to you all:)

The extractor will split the video and audio of anything that is fed into the input, however it will not split anything that comes into the output, and ARC is feeding the output. (This is why you have to use a dedicated ARC socket on your receiver and TV for ARC to work, and your extractor does not have this facility)

Hope this helps

Check to see if you have an optical out on your TV, and an optical in on your receiver, as if so, you can use this as it goes up to 7.1. (DD/DTS)

NOTE: Remember to assign the optical in on you receiver to the ARC channel if using this method.

Hope this helps

Further to abacus' suggestion I've been considering optical out to dac to RCA/phono type thing. Anyone have an opion if that would be a useful audio upgrade over using the headphone out.

Seen comments re fixed output being a downside however the AS-500 has a remote. On a very tight budget but some units are advertised at about the 10 quid mark. Would appreciate your input, thanks. ;)
