advice for amplifier

hi all,

I need to have an integrated amplifier having optical output to match my Marantz CD-63 compact disc player which has optical output option.My budget is not more than 400 pounds and i would like to know which interconnect cable to use as well.Please also let me know were i can mail order it at the cheapest price for i live in the island of Mauritius.

Dear Amritt,

To my knowledge there is no such stereo amplifier on the market that would have an included stereo DAC with digital optical input... You would need an amplifier PLUS a DAC - which combination will most likely exceed your budget of 400 pounds...

You could I guess get a second hand older Musical Fidelity X-DAC which could be bought for around 200 pounds on e-bay. Such a DAC combined say with a second hand Marantz PM7200 (selling on ebay at around 150 quid) or a Marantz PM7001 (at around 200 quid) would give you a very good system. I don't know if this is what you had in mind though...
