Hi guys, I am new to this forum and was hoping for some pointers in the right direction.

I have always had a good hi fi set up consisting of reference amp and large floor standing speakers but have never really had a good TV set up.

I am building my own house and am at the stage of planning wiring for speakers etc but am in a bit of a dilemma.

I am wanting to go for a good surround sound TV set up but am wanting to incorporate listening to music into the amp as I no longer want large floor standing speakers.

However, I am also wanting to be able to zone the music into 3 separate areas. Basically the living area of the house is a large L shape with the lounge and dinning room at the bottom of the L and the kitchen above.

I would love to be able to just watch the TV with surround sound in lounge. But then when I am wanting to listen to music I would like to be able to listen on separate speakers in all 3 areas together or separately.

Not sure if I would need a surround sound amp to take care of the TV and music in the lounge then a separate amp that would handle the speakers in the dinning room and the kitchen that I would be able to switch between the 2.

Anyone have any ideas that could help me get started on my compare and contrast of different components as I have no idea where to get started.

Cheers

Jon

Are you going to want to play the same music in all three rooms, or a mismatch i.e. sometimes the same music, sometimes different music in different rooms?

Also, will you have any kind of computer based music source or are you looking to be able to do this purely from your CD / DVD / Blu-Ray player? If so, will you be looking to be able to play a movie source in the main room at the same time as there is music playing in one or both of the other areas?
