Advice for a computer user

Hello folks I hope you can supply me with some advice on a few audio bits and bobs as it’s time for an upgrade!

My main usage for my audio system is for listening to music that I play from my computer. I have a high end computer with a decent soundcard currently hooked up to a JVC AV receiver with two Eltax Symphony speakers. I bought the sound system with one of my first pay packets about 6 years ago so to be honest it's not a high end system so I’m looking for something a little more up to date and specialised for my needs.

Just to give you an idea I listen to a lot of IDM Drum n Bass and Dance music so the speakers have to be able to give out a bit of a kick. But clarity is my main concern as my Eltax’s go loud with a kick but are lacking when it comes to clarity.

Now with me not being an expert on the subject I have no idea what price range or kit I’m looking at, I'm thinking around the 500 mark tops for two speakers and something to power them. I'd prefer for the speakers to be as small as possible too due to me having a limited amount of space in my flat although it's not a necessity. My room is about 3 x 5 meters to give you a rough idea of where they would be living.

Please feel free to ask for more specifics if needed, I’d greatly appreciate a nudge in the right direction to any websites or even some plain old advice.

Regards,

Dave.

Not sure if you could squeeze it inside £500, but give these a consideration:
A Monitor Audio BR2/BR5
A Rotel 04 or a NAD C325

Thanks for your reply matey, I've done some digging around and I've got a rough idea of what I'm looking at now. I'll probably be bumping up my budget anyway as I got a nice Christmas bonus this year!

I'm going to go to sevenoaks tomorrow and have a look around and see what I like :)

Well I've chosen the NAD C315BEE Amp and a pair of Monitor RS1's! I also got some stands and high quality cables to go with so I should see a vast improvement when I get it set up!

Now it's just a case of waiting for the speakers to come in stock heh.

Thanks again.
