Adding a freesat box to a Humax PVR?

Hi

My father in law want to go FreeSat. He already has a Humax Freeview PVR. If he added just a Humax Freesat box - would they talk to each other easily? would recording from Freesat be easy? or is he better off going the whole hog and buying the Humax Freesat PVR ?

Hi Roger, I've just gone through the manual for my Humax 9300T and I don't see any way to input any external signal, so, unless I've missed something, I'm sorry but it isn't possible to connect a Freesat signal through a Humax PVR.

Edit: That's making the, possibly rash, assumption that all Humax PVRs have the same (lack of) inputs!!

So its only input is an antenna?

The Humax can only record from it's internal tuner, not from external sources....Which is common of most, if not all PVRs. They're not designed to record from external sources.

Yeah that makes sense - I remember the early days of DVD / HD recorders that didn't have an inbuilt tuner...
