Just when I thought I had finally decided on the Blu-ray player I am going to get, another option creeps in...

Had decided that the Sony BDP 550 was it......have already spent 100 quid on three shiny new sets of RCA cables for the analogue connections to my STR DB940 amp.....when.........

I have the chance of a brand new Panasonic BD30(not 35 the older one) for a ridiculous price.....what do I do ? Does the 30 have the analogue outputs for HD sound ?..I know the 35 does not but I seem to remember that this was the main gripe of the 35 review that Pana had removed these connectors.....

Is the Sony much better or do I go with the deal on the Panasonic ?

I can afford the Pana now I would have to wait a month or so for the Sony after my cable spends what to do...?

Yes, the DMP-BD30 has 5.1-channel analogue outputs, but not decoding for the Dolby/DTS HD sound formats on Blu-ray. So the best you're going to get from those analogue outs is decoded Dolby/DTS standard-def sound. The only way to get HD out of this player is via HDMI to a receiver with a suitable onboard decoder.
