AA paganini 24/192 repair or not?

Hi,

I'm wondering what to do; here is the situation:

I put an AA Paganini 24/192 for repair a month ago. Problem 1 was tray would not open unless it contained a disk. One of your friend closes it empty, and the problem begins. Playing with the main switch, and with the small needle (provided by AA itself, bad sign) in the pin hole to activate the eject failsafe of the transport (based on a DVD writer for PC if I remember well the advertising, this to minimize jitter following AA), and after a quarter of an hour, the tray would at last open, accept a disk, feed it, and hopefully read it. Problem 2 was a dead display (on? off? reading? what track? error? No one knows).

I had at last today answer from Transtel in charge of servicing AA in Belgium. A very kind man told me he was a little bit worried by the quite higher price of pieces alone (He told me that costs would be around 200 - 250€ including VAT and shipping in June July, now it seems that would only cover for the pieces alone excluding VAT, work, shipping, and so on).

So basically, I lost completely confidence in AA. I had the former Paganini (central transport, four buttons left in line, four buttons right in line, and had to replace twice transport, and it died a third time). I still am asking myself why on Earth I took again an AA CDP after that. Go figure.

Now, should I have the paganini repaired to sell it. What could I ask for a Paganini 24/192 with a very nice and expensive new transport, display, and a new firmware? Or should I stop there, save money, and go for an Apollo-R or second hand Saturn (no tray AT ALL, never more tray for me thanks! Or maybe Nagra or dcs 🙂)? I suppose the faulty Paganini is worth nothing selling it?

Really, I'm disappointed by AA, unless they make a very nice commercial offer, I'm good and done with them.

Advice most welcome 🙂

All the best,

No one, really? Really depressed by all this mess. I was expecting to be rid of these tray issues for a decent repair cost...

Just to know, what would be the price of the Saturn-R?

Best Regards
