Hey all. Advice pls!

When I rip cds with itunes it obviously stores in my music/itunes and automatically appears in itunes.

However when I buy music from other sites I save it to my music/itunes folder manually. I then have to go into itunes and add the files manually with the add folder to library option.

Am I missing a trick? I'm quite sure that theres a quicker way to do this - some kind of auto scan - I just don't know what it is!

Many thanks in advance, Jake

If the folder containing the music you want to add is in the right place on your computer, not in some default download location but where you normally store your mp3's, find it. Open itunes, go to your music library and just drag and drop the folder across. I do know what you mean, a 'right click' option of send to itunes would be handy - don't know if it's possible to add one yourself?

Ben.

This may be down to the sites you are buying off. Obviously itunes and also the Amazon Downloader will allow folders to go where you want them. And will automatically populate itunes. Check what the download manager for your purchases will let you do.

Change your prefernces so that Itunes manages your music. Then whatever you play is copied into the itunes folder (double click audio and have Itunes as your default mp3 player). Also put your import settings to highest quality viable bit rate.

You can then delete the original file.

Just open itunes then go "File", "Add to library" and find your tracks in the pop up menu that appears and click OK or just open itunes then open the folder with the tracks in and drag and drop then on the open itunes window in the area where the music is listed the biggest window within itunes. Job done.

So with these settings if you just right click on the file and open with itunes it will

- move the file to my music
- automatically put it into itunes library
- always find it again when playing through itunes

If so ... sorted!

I'm curious about foobar. Its just that everything is so apple based in my set up - airports, remote app, ipod etc.

In that case you're better off sticking with what you've got.
