More Pix

I think I have mastered this insert images at last !

Some more pix from http://community.whathifi.com/forums/t/501588.aspx

Added Sony S570 and PureAV PF30. New STAX 300 added in oak to match all our other furniture. My partner loves it too. We both appreciate the AV setup. Gonna do some hard listening now.

Replacing with a STAX 300 unit - looks better I recon ..

Still wondering about cutting back out of unit to stop booming. Any advice?

Loving the wallpaper!

Our favourite Indian restaurant has recently put up some really 'in yer face' dark chocolate brown and white floral patterned flock wallpaper and I keep meaning to ask where they bought it. I am of an age where I don't care what is 'hip' and want at least one wall of unashamedly early 1970s flock retro and an Ercol sideboard!

Mmmmm - dunno what to make of yr comment. B&Q is the answer - maybe we need to add a DIY forum page? Dont fancy brown but my blue LED backlightin' looks errrm well - cool !

Finished for now? Received a oak/black glas STAX 300 to replace my optimum stand (SuperFi recommended). Nice stand but I will use a couple of 3in cooling fans. (Quiet PC were very generous and helpful when I got one smoking. great company and very quiet fan). The enclosed stands benefit from a little cooling - works very well.

Pix later but oak stand looks nice now.

Merry Christmas all

(Bitearly maybe?)

Nice STAX 300. Quiet PC for a couple of cooling fans - really makes a difference. Really COOL !

Santa bought me a Harmony ONE remote. After many many hours - COOL !

Recon we need a separate thread for Harmony remotes.

Happy New Year folks

Cheers

Hi your set-up is really getting there now + the stax 300 look's superb, Benny.

Awww Benny ! Getting there. B*** - I thought I'd got there. Whats next to do then??

Seriously - can recommend SilentPC for very quiet fans to keep the electronics cool. And the Harmony One is brilliant. (First throw it hard against a brick wall cuz it dont work properly - and then set it up and enjoy a very neat unit making control of all your kit very straight forward).

And yes I love the STAX unit - probably not as Hi in the Fi stakes as my previous stand and the enclosed sides do need cooling - but looks nice now.

I recon I am very pleased now to settle back and enjoy some good music (SACD inc) and Blurays.

Cheers all

Mmmmmm - maybe if I just alter the .......

I am considering opening the back of my unit - its quite unit so dont want to hack it unneccesarily but ... If i removed the back behind the centre speaker would it make things better? I have bunged the port and I guess it does boom slightly but I cahnge the frequency response to cool this.

Is it worth my while ?

Cheers for any advice or comments.

That STAX 300 unit does look really good with the rest of the furniture and also in its own right. Very nice.

Thanks both for your comments. Worried that I don't know what to do next. Guess its the jigsaw. (Not the 2000 piece but the cutting variety)

Have to say whilst listening to my laptop fan whirring (its not its customery cooling base). Forget about clearance of equipment - use a couple of quiet fans. electronics really do like a cool breeze.

Cheers

Just do it, be brave!

Hope you're looking after my amp and speakers !

No mate not cut mine as i've never found my centre "boomy" tbh.

There's a thread on here about upgraded fig8 leads tho.

I tried some upgraded mains leads a while ago but they didn't work for me, but when I tried 2 mains conditioners in my system instead I found some performance improvements I could see and hear.

Cheers

Looks very nice indeed....although I couldn't put up with anything placed on top of my speakers and definitely no vase full of water on top of the rack. Tempting fate....

Thanks drummersdave. The vase - now a nice chess set. The top of the speakers? Hint in the title - compromise ! Godda go and set the saw to my unit .... Dash - shes back !

Cheers all

Dusted off the old Garrard now. Flowers - Chess set - Deck. Sounds quite decent for an old un'. (The deck, not me). Still not reached for the saw to cut out the back of the unit but enjoying the system for now. Have experimented with front and rear speaker angles which seems to help. I bought an ebay sound meter - waste of money - my Yamaha seemed to set the levels spot on. (More kit for sale on Gumtree then)

Cheers all
