7.1 surround - 5.1 surround query.

While watching Hellboy 2 last night, I noticed my receiver displaying the symbols for 7.1 surround, but as I only have my receiver set for 5.1 am I losing some of the soundtrack or is the receiver mixing the sound for my rear 2 speakers?

no choice on the amp for 5.1? even so I think you havent missed a thing.

Thanks for reply, you can set the amp to 7.1 surround but as I only have 5.1 speakers, I thought that it would be pointless but it did sound good though.

but for sures set it to 5.1 or read the manual so see if it automaticaly detects you only have 5 speakers.
