Hi Max, yep, I'd switched the Motionflow over to 100Mhz from the off - looks terrific. Watched Saw VI last night (I know, I know...but it wasn't too bad; the US Health Insurance industry took the brunt of Jigsaw's ire this time round!) and picked up a good deal in Blockbuster with the 3 disc Blu-Ray Star trek for a tenner.

One slight thing that I hadn't realised was the film dislayed in widescreen but still in letterbox format. You can zoom in to fill the screen, but I'd always just assumed these sets were designed for the fullscreen resolution. Either way, no biggie. Standard freeview is fine, HD is excellent and I might buy a cheap DAC to stream radio across to the amp. Must buy some cable tidy tubes though; the cat had a nibble at the aerial lead last night - grrrr!

Of course, the acid test is yet to come - or two acid tests really. Mrs. R_S doesn't know about this yet, so it's a bit of a surprise to come for her while the kids might try and eat it or jab their jammy, porridge covered fingers at it in the morning...still, that's what insurance is for!

For now though, bl00dy good set - highly recommended!

MrJay60:Hi Guys, Just for the record got myself the 503 on Tuesday at an absolute steal....£369. It was meant to be an EX-DISPLAY model but upon checking the TV with the Tech guy at John Lewis it turned out the set was brand new and the only reason it was being sold at Ex display was because the box had been damaged. Also it came with a 5 year guarantee....Woo! The TV itself is amazing but I am not to sure about the film mode setting, Auto 1 and Auto 2 look the same to me so I am not to sure what the difference is? Anyway Happy New Year!

Nice snag! That's a good deal - you effectively got the VAT back on that one without all the faff of sending bits of paper off to Sony. Result!

I bought our 32EX503 christmas eve,so far watched Ironman 2, Green Zone,Book of Eli and Knight and Day on Blu-Ray on a BDP 570 and the picture is very very good. With the motionflow on the movies were smooth.colours natural and clear to say the the least.SD free view is very good better than some other sets I've seen.Yesterday I set up the tv with the THX Optimiser,I watched Star Wars on dvd and the picture was great. I have yet to try a blu-ray but looking forward to watching one.

Hi guys,

I can get the Sony KDL 46EX503 tv for £825 including Sony's 5 year warranty, but only till the end of closing on Monday..........

Is it a good price/offer?

Got a 2008 plasma now, so will this be a big step up in terms of PQ when used for SD freeview (HD in April), blu rays and occasional x box?

I have to say it looked great with Sky HD on in the shop.......

, you got a great deal there, 5 year warranty and an s370 thrown in, plus the nice gesture of the refund, that's £380 in total?

, fantastic value for top of their class components..

yea as i said the motionflow is great for sports, in fact i'd probably leave it on all the time, my friend has a sony 40w5500 and it works flawlessly with it on for all sources..

if your watching a blu-ray with the letterbox bars top and bottom then you get the best picture, zoom it, and it won't be quite as sharp as the image will be being rescaled by the tv , having said that, on a smallish, 32in screen it won't be too noticeable and may well be a compromise worth making..

enjoy
