Samsung's 40-inch 4K TV is now available to pre-order:

Of course, whether you can appreciate the benefits of 4K at this size is another matter.

I think that's a great price as well really. My 42" cost £850 a few years back. 40" 4k tv for £1000

agree not sure you would see a benefit at that screen size though

Looks like this is the cheapest 4K TV available to buy in the UK.

even though my budget is £700 and i wanted a 3dtv this tv looks a promising buy! it is a bit small though..maybe i should wait until my next tv buy before getting a 4k screen?

what screen size do you need to fully appreciate 4k? as i can basically never spend £2k on a 4k tv for the next many years!

People initially said 65 inches is the minimum you need to appreciate the difference, although in a recent survey by HDTVest, 90% of people correctly identified which is the 4K TV at 55 inches.

Given that most people seem to moan about the fact that they can't see any difference between Bluray and DVD, I doubt very much they'll reap any benefit at all from a 40" UHD TV. Just seems like Samsung going for market share while the UHD buzz is going round.

This could be the beginning of UHD becoming a 'throwaway' format.
