One thing is though is that the new LG 4K OLED TVs seem to be in short supply at the moment, but when they do have stock I still think they will come down. And second thing is we have yet to see HDR and OLED TVs combined to see if it works correctly. They had to dim the picture to combine 4K and OLED together, so god knows what they will do here.

I do like the Samsung's though and am keeping an eye on them, did you see the one in HCC a couple of months back? They loved it!

I did indeed see the review of the Samsung 65JS9500 in HCC, in fact they gave it Reference status. Yet, AVForums have subsequently said that they prefer the LG 65EG960V 4K OLED (the 2015 model, not last year's 6EC970V) to the equally-priced (at six grand) Samsung.

Do you demo OLEDs much? They really are a step up in quality.

Not often, but see what I said in the last five lines on my post number 4 of this thread http://www.whathifi.com/forum/tvs-and-projectors/lg-4k-oled-65-inch-tv-review.
I don't go by reports on AVForums genuinely, I read them but then do my own demos. On normal settings motion is really good on that TV, and OLED TVs have really good motion, just as good as plasma in my experience. Obviously I am not a gamer though but in my view if you buy a £6000 TV you should no way game on it! Don't believe all the reports you hear on the forums buy the TV from John Lewis based on a demo and then if it's no good send it back. You have loads of people ready to buy that TV when it comes down, but no HDR might put some people off.

I will probably buy an Oppo 4K Blu-Ray player (like many other people I guess), and plan to pay around £560 for that.
That's a very precise figure! How did you arrive at that?
I reckon based on multi region prices for Oppo Blu-Ray players that figure can't be far out, and you might be able to negotiate a slight discount too. £550-£600 in my view.

You will see motion is perfect.

Why not? There are a lot of people who buy TVs purely for gaming. Vincent Teoh is an avid gamer himself.
They perhaps highlight issues on the TV you would possibly not see. You are asking for image retention for sure. So you risk damaging a £6000 for gaming, it's really not worth it in my view.

Here's the viewing angles on a curved OLED TV too, as you will see they are perfect:

A TV is meant for entertainment. For some it means watching films and for others, it means gaming. Why do you think PlayStations and Xboxes sell in millions?

Avid gamers should be well aware of limitations of TV technology. A plasma TV for example, is actually best for gaming due to inherent superior response rates, but you risk screen burn in some of the models. It is therefore important to check different reviews before taking a decision.

Cost of TV has nothing to do with it. There are loads of millionaire gamers out there. :)

TV manufacturers are well aware of this need (hence you have a "game" mode on most TVs). So they do design their TVs to meet this.

Gel, in your response number 33 you maybe didn't read the last five lines of my post in the other thread that I linked to, in which I compared my impressions of a new television with my impressions of last year's televisions.

You cannot comment on motion based on a video clip. Too many factors into play here (video frame rate, refresh rate of your laptop etc.).
You can see there is no motion issues though, and this was my experience in real life too, and WHF said it was okay.
