Hello guys,

I'm looking to replace my DJ setup currently in my living room (monitors focal alpha 65 + technics sl1200mk5 + mixer ecler nuo 2.0) for a hifi system and move this setup to another room where I'll do my mixings etc.

I'm looking for something that could deliver sound as good as my focal (range 40Hz->22Khz) but in a smaller package (I don't want a speaker with more than 25cm depth).

In my town is very hard to find speakers to listen/test. Today I could A/B cambridge audio sx50 and wharfdale diamound 210, nothing more in stock to listen. CA were 110€ and Warfdale 199€ and I honestly prefered the sound of the CA, filled more the room and had a better bass range (they were both powered by a denon pma 720), but they clearly deliver inferior sound compared to my focal 65.

Do you think that a pair of cambridge audio SX50 for 110€ is a good price for the speakers or I can find better for the same amount? To match this speakers I was thinking of Marantz PM6005 or Onkyo A-9010.

I know that the best would be being able to listem them all, but unfortunatly it is not an option.

I am targeting at 400€ a pair of speakers + amp, do you have other suggestions?

Should I buy better speakers or better amp?

The size of the room is 5x4 meters.

Thanks

I can also get the denon pma720 for 225€ vs 250€ the onkyo. The denon has more output power, what do you think will suit better here?

thanks

No not the most exiting amp http://www.whathifi.com/denon/pma-720ae/review

To my mind the Onkyo would be the better buy. It also recently won a HiFi Choice head to head review against six others some a good bit more expensive.

Nothing against the Denon really, my brother has one, but the Onkyo was not around at the time he purchased his amp.

thanks guys!

do you think the onkyo can handle the speakers at good volume?

And about the speakers what do you think? I couldn't find them as low as I can get them (110€ pair)

Sorry if i'm hijacking the thread, but is the Marantz pm6005 worth the extra price than the cheaper Onkyo A-9010?

and there are also the 2nd and amplifiers, this amount of options kills me

now my main concern are the speakers, that I think that are more important than the amplifer, are these good for the price? Is there something not much bigger that could deliver better sound?
