I am surprised nobody has mentioned this new model from LG!

It's in stock at several online retailers for around £650. Anyone seen any reviews or seen it working?

Looks really nice and the specs seem excellent;

  • Full HD 1080P LCD Television
  • Screen Size:37
  • Tuner Type:Analogue with Freeview
  • 10bit Panel
  • Nicam sound system
  • Teletext:Smartext with EPG
  • PC compatible
  • Response Time: 5ms
    24fps Compatible
  • Picture resolution 1920x1080
  • Contrast ratio 50,000:1Hd Connection:Hdmi x3 (v1.3)
  • RGB Connection
  • Game Mode
  • Scart Connection:x2
  • Table top Swivel Stand supplied
  • Dimensions (WxHxD) 936.4x685x294 mm
  • Weight 18.3kg
I know their models recently have been very hit & miss but i have had my 26LC2R for almost 2 years now and never had any problems and the picture is great!

Looking to upgrade to a 37 now and this seems to tick all the boxes. Well either this or the Panasonic 37PX80!

definatly go for the panasonic! the contrast ratio on most of the new tvs are now just madly out of preportion...

plasma beats LCD in all aspects in my eyes and dont let the Full HD on the LG put you off the panasonic, as it can accept a 1080p signal and scale it down to fit the tv.

Also there isnt much difference in 37 with full hd and hd ready in my opinion :)

Thanks for the comments and i have been looking at the Panny for a while now - just the lack of Full HD and the rather plain looking design have out me off so far.

There are 3 user reviews up at the following site in the US for the LG - the model is called the LG50 over there;

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8743675&productCategoryId=abcat0101001&type=product&tab=7&id=1205537541216#productdetail

3 users all giving it 5/5! Also a further 2 user reviews of the 42" version - both giving 5/5 as well!

Going upto a 42" what do you reckon of the LG Plasma 42PG6000? Specs are actually better on paper than the Panny. I have seen 1 review so far and it was a very good one in Home Cinema Choice mag.

the LG is not better than the panasonic plasma...

forget reading peoples reviews... find yourself a store that has them side-by-side and see for your self how the lack of motin handling and poor colours make the panasonic the better option :)

also dont get hung up on the 1080p spec on the LG as the PX80 will accept a 1080 signal and scale it down to fit and still looks brilliant, also theres no significant difference in quality in 37" between full hd and hd ready sets...

My original preference was for plasma and have been looking at that Panny for a while.

Seeing as you have got one can you tell me what version HDMI sockets are on the tv cos even Panasonic themselves have given me 2 different answers! First it was 1.3 then it was 1.2! An expert review said 1.2 but then on a french website they listed the full specs and clearly stated 1.3!

What do you think of the LG6000 plasma? I notice in another thread you have seen it working?

I dont own the PX80 but im pretty sure the HDMI version is 1.3 as with most new TVs.

also i would still stick with the Panasonic over the LG, although the design is much nice on the LG in my eyes it doesnt stand up to the same black levels as the Panasonic does...

Even though the LG has a 30,000 contrast ratio versus 15,000 for the Panny?!

ignore specs.. especially contrast ratio.. these days it has been blown way out of preportion, take a look at both sets and im sure you will see how much better the plasma handles fast moving objects and colours.

I actually meant the LG Plasma not the LCD. The 42PG6000 has twice the contrast ratio of the Panny PX80! Also i keep hearing that the sound is quite average on the PX80.

I will be buying either the LG plasma or the Panny. Specs just look better on the LG and early reviews have been very good. How did it look to you when you saw it? I can't find anywhere with it instore yet!

what area are you in roughly? and also sorry about the mixup, but id say i prefer the picture on the panasonic... the LG can be quite smeary colourwise, i think its the great design of the PG6000 that makes it stand out to me...

Hi, i live in the Glasgow area. All the Comets & Currys i have been in have not had any of the new LG's yet - they have only just got the PX80's so prob another month before they get them at this rate!

LG have got the Full HD version (LG7000) coming out in a couple of months but not sure whether they will do a 42" version.

I am upgrading from a LG 26LC2R LCD which i have had absolutely no problems with and has a very nice picture for the price/size.

I have a small lounge room and a 37" would be the ideal size - 42" is pushing it somewhat to be honest but that PG6000 looks great! ;-)

2 reviews of the 50" version;

http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/re...n-Plasma-TV/p1

The 42" version can be had for £718.94 delivered! (xomy.com)

How much have you seen the PX80 in action? Also what did you think of the sound - reports are saying it gets distortion during movies etc.

If you had the same choice as me - £612 for the 37PX80 (£699 for the 42" as another option) or £719 for the 42PG6000 you would go the Panny?

Thanks for your input!

i havent had the chance to listen to the sound during movies on the PX80, but during SD and HD it sounds perfectly fine to me :)

take a look at both sets... id say panasonic for the picture and LG for the design and style... it is a tough choice to make.
